Green Responsibility

Residing in this world entails responsibilities for our own selves, our loved ones, and to the public at large. We may think that the only way for all of us to co-exist is by minding our individual survival and to refrain from being nosy about other people’s business. This would have been a much simpler way of living.                            

Even so, we cannot deny the fact that all of us are interrelated in more ways than we can think of. The lives we lead are entangled in an indisputable network of kinship. Our respective choices not only affect us directly but have an indirect effect on others as well. The world we live in is in fact one big community, an ecosystem of which we are all part of.

Thinking Green       

Our ecology has been encountering a number of problems for some time now. News about destructive facilities and faulty measures has been continuously reported. There are ongoing debates concerning how government policies of some countries should be revised for the betterment of the environment. Awareness of these and the part we play alters one’s insight. Learning to look at things from a different vantage point will lead to active participation in prevention if not in its undoing.

For others, the need to go out to the streets and mobilize arises. There is nothing wrong with that. It is a way for them to convey their position on the issue. However, not all of us could do that every day. Let us not be disheartened though. Influencing political change could be done in several ways.

Wearing Green

We can contribute by making smart choices and applying ecology friendly practices. Fashion could be utilized to gain this end. It speaks of ideas and what is happening worldwide. Through it we are able to express our individuality in aesthetics, concept of beauty, including the beliefs and values we possess. The role it plays is much bigger. In fact, it is a powerful medium to articulate our stand. Putting on shirts and the use of items with socio-political messages is an effective means of communication.

Eco-fashion gives new direction to style. It attributes respect to the living environment. By purchasing, wearing, and using this new trend we are actively participating in the battle.
